August 27, 2019 was a warm Tuesday night for a gathering of likeminded people remembering the loss of our loved ones due to drug overdose.
Many vendors set up to let people know of the many resources available to them during this epidemic. Our theme was "Seeds of Hope". We are challenging everyone to plant a flower, tree, shrub, etc in memory of those lost and to celebrate those in recovery.
The event was kicked off with a memorial prayer service in the Cathedral at Cathedral Square downtown. Haley Beason, spoke of her recovery and the center for women she has opened in Bay Minette. David Grayson did an awesome job speaking for getting rid of the stigma of addiction. Thank you, Virginia, and the Drug Education Council for hosting this event. Thank you, Mobile, for lighting up the RSA Tower purple for Recovery Month.
A video from the Gulf Coast Families & the Opioid Epidemic group was released and very powerful with its message.
